Things I learned Recording My First Podcast

Things I learned Recording My First Podcast

I came across this tweet the other day where the person said something along the lines of 'a podcast these days is just an excuse for two grown men to have a meaningful conversation'

I couldn’t agree more.

Also, I would add ...'and learn from one another'.

With that said, here are a couple of things I need to get better at...

The Better The Prep The Better The Interview

This is pretty self-explanatory.

The more you know about your guest, the better the conversation is going to be.

And truth be told, I hadn’t prepped as well as I should have...

And it shows.

Guilty as charged.

Let The Conversation Evolve Naturally

While you should have a list of things you'd like to talk about,

don't be too set on asking questions that might no longer fit with what your guest is talking about.

Follow Your Instincts

If you feel like there's more to a story, don't hesitate to dive deep and inquire.

This is definitely more art than science.

You're Just Talking To A Friend

Not gonna lie, in the beginning, I was crazy nervous.

And it definitely shows.

But 10-20min into the recording, I started to loosen up.

Even crack jokes here and there.

And guess what, the conversation got better too.

Identity Of A Learner

Thankfully I have adopted the identity of a learner and as such, acknowledge how I'm very much a beginner at podcasting.

This means the more I do this, the better  I get.

Thank you Aaron for your time and wisdom. It was a true pleasure.

Now let me go do 100 more podcasts.
